Dave’s Killer Bread Review

Dave's Killer Bread

Last year, our family moved towards a more Paleo/Primal-ish diet. We are not militant about it when we go out to eat, but it’s been awhile since we bought pasta or a loaf of bread at the grocery store. Aside from warm fresh-baked bread (because OMG yum), I’ve never been a big bread eater. Apparently the rest of my family has really been missing it. When I told them a box of Dave’s Killer Bread would be delivered soon, the boys became transfixed on the front door. Every knock and ring would excite them. “Is it the bread?!” Clearly, they’re being deprived…

Good Seed and Thin-Sliced Twenty One Whole Grains and Seeds DKB

When it finally arrived, Biscuit and Cookie begged me to let them eat the bread straight out of the bag. Geez kids, I didn’t realize you missed it that much… ok, straight bread it is! Dave’s Killer Bread is organic and Non-GMO Project Verified. In fact, after less than a decade on the market, DKB is the best selling organic bread in the country! There are 12 varieties available in major grocery chains across 17 states and parts of Canada for $5-$6. The company strives to be more than just bread makers; they believe in creating lasting change for the bread industry, their communities, and their employees.

They went straight for the Good Seed!

I figured I’d have plenty of time to get pictures of more creative recipes using the rest of the two loaves of bread. We put the Thin-Sliced into the freezer to keep it fresh. Dave recommends placing the whole bag of bread into another bag to freeze for up to three months. I really needn’t have bothered freezing the second loaf. The first was gone in a day and a half! Oh well, you can still make plenty of yummy sandwiches with one loaf of bread.

A Killer breakfast!

Sadly (not really), none of the bread made its way to sandwiches! I opened the Thin-Sliced bread and made toast to go along with my breakfast of eggs and bacon cooked in an avocado, fried potatoes and orange juice. With each piece of Dave’s Killer Bread containing as much protein as one egg, this was an ideal nursing mama meal. After that, everyone needed toast! Seriously, DKB has an awesome texture and those crunchy little seeds get even yummier when they’re slightly toasted.
