Crunchier Than Thou

Posted on: 07/24/2012

I’ve gotten the feeling lately that many friends (& family members!) think that I sit around judging them for not making the same natural lifestyle choices that I have made. That’s so not true. For the record, I don’t get to spend much time sitting around, lol.

Seriously though, I know the choices I’ve made aren’t for everyone. Heck, there are plenty of things that fall under the “natural lifestyle” umbrella that I still don’t do. And confession time: we still eat fast food several times a month. I know, not so crunchy now, am I?

We are taking baby steps & while I don’t judge what everyone else does, I do hope to inspire them to make small changes in their lives for their health & for the environment.

I’m on a learning curve too, with the crunchy thing. Baby steps are a big deal, I think. You do what works for you in your life and home.

Thanks Heidi! We all have to start somewhere 🙂

Exactly. We are somewhere on the continuum between too crunchy for the mainstreamers and too mainstream for the crunchy kids. We can’t define our best practice by other people’s standards, and that’s what makes it so hard to find community that fits with where you’re at.

Thanks for commiserating Melody. There is a pretty big natural parenting movement where I live, which is great, but I do often feel like I’m not quite up to their standards. After taking a good look at my family, I realize that all of the little changes will add up to something big & what we’re doing now is just right for us.
